Read-A-Thon

Well, I didn’t read as many hours as I thought I would, I think I only ended up reading about 10 hours, but for a first time go, that isn’t too bad.  I also had many other things going on, so overall I am happy with how I did.  I also knew that I would not be able to stay up all night and read, as family obligations and the need to go to work tomorrow awake and refreshed was just more important.

I do love the idea of the Read-A-Thon, and next time I will clear my schedule more so that I can read for as many hours as possible.  I will also prepare more before hand.  I will make sure I have quick snacks ready, I will make sure my family is on board with Mom’s day to herself, and I will make sure that I have a few books that I can’t wait to dive into ready to go. . .including some short books so I feel more like I am accomplishing something.

If you are a reader, I highly recommend trying some of the book challenges around the internet or trying a Read-A-Thon, us bookies have to stick together afterall. . no one else understands this strange obsession.

Let the Read-A-Thon Begin

I am sorta bummed, cause I somehow missed the fact that the Read-A-Thon started 9 hours ago.  I swear I read that it started at 2pm, but that is what I get for not going back to double-check.  Oh well, I guess I will join in late and then stay late.  I sure hope that is ok.

Since I have just begun the Read-A-Thon, I have chosen to start with The Mermaind Chair by Sue Monk Kidd, as her book The Secret Life of Bees was one of my favorite last year.

Read-A-Thon

I am going to finally do it.  I have tried to participate in this Read-A-Thon the past two times it was hosted but had other committments that kept me from it.  I am doing it this time around!  I do have a home football game and church that will fall in the middle of it all, but I think if I am creative I can find a way to read through them both (who can be upset if I actually read my Bible while I am at church?)

If you like to read, I encourage you to join in the fun.  There will be prizes and encouragment along the way, or you can just curl up in a a chair and read till the time is up.  If you have a blog, you can blog about it either while you are reading or after the challenge is over, if you don’t have a blog, you will have lots of time to read how others are doing or how they did after the event.

I am getting my books together now, I think I will save the last Stephanie Meyers book for that day, as I know I can read that in one sitting.  I also may re-read the last Harry Potter book, but I am looking for others to read taht day, so feel free to leave me some suggestions!
